How do you stay in shape with such a busy schedule?
For me working out is my job…I am a full time instructor at Flywheel Sports so staying in shape would be considered a “job requirement”!! I am extremely lucky to have such a wonderful job that keeps me in shape…but prior to Flywheel I worked a normal day job. During those times, I would not consider my workday over until I left the gym.
2. For people like you – on the run all day, what advice would you give for getting in some healthy meals?
I keep protein bars, Think Thin, in my workout bag everyday. They are my saving grace!! I also try and keep packages of mixed nuts in there as well. Another major tip is preparation. If you prepare your meals ahead of time, then you wont be caught in a situation where you have nothing to eat.
3. Is there a skin of beauty product that, if put out of production, would drive you to track down the last remaining stock on eBay?
Yes!! My face lotion…Eucerin Everyday Protection Face Lotion. I have used this lotion for years and I will continue to use it for years to come. It is for sensitive skin so I never have to worry about my skin breaking out. It is very lightweight and non-greasy and for someone who has oily skin that is a major plus. It also has an SPF of 30, which helps to fight off harmful UV rays and sun damage.
4. What’s been the #1 challenge in getting healthy and fit?
I think everyone’s #1 challenge is starting the workout/healthy eating lifestyle. It takes a lot of willpower and self-motivation to start a workout plan and self-control to maintain a healthy diet. It is so hard to get in shape and so easy to fall out of shape. There are so many outside factors that can affect our workout plan and healthy eating…i.e. long work days, too tired, happy hour, birthdays, holiday, etc. We have to stay committed to our body and ourselves.
5. Do you ever feel like there are not enough hours in the day?
Always…there are some days I think, “Where did they day go?” Being an active, busy person…I try and fit so much into one day and sometimes there aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done. My “To-Do” list just seems to keep growing…I should add to it “add more hours in the day”!
6. What are some of your workout essentials? (favorite bag, headband, shoes, tunes, etc.)
My favorite workout essentials are Lululemon Wonder Under Crops and one of their amazing tops, my Nike kicks, and a big bottle of SmartWater, and the best jams on my iPod. Being a fitness instructor, music plays a HUGE role in my classes…must have the best beats out there!!
7. #1 vacation spot
That’s a tough one because I absolutely love to travel and have been to many #1 vacation spots!! If I could go back to any of the places I’ve been…I’d have to say Florence, Italy takes the top spot. Its absolutely gorgeous…and the wine isn’t so bad either. I also love going to my family’s lake house on Lake Martin…it’s a peaceful, relaxing little weekend getaway.
8. What is the best-hidden gem in Atlanta?
One of my favorite places to go is Café Jonah. It’s a little cottage like café near Flywheel and I have never had one bad bite. Everything is hand-made and fresh from the garden in the back. Café Jonah even donates 10% of the total sales for the day to a local charity and on Sundays they do a “Pay What You Think It’s Worth” buffet. You actually get to decide what you think the food is worth. My favorite item there is the oatmeal…AMAZING!!
9. Lastly, why do you like Roots Juices?
First off, Roots Juices are delicious and nutritious!! I love the variety they offer and I know I am getting my fruits and vegetables in every bottle. I throw a few in my bag and I’m ready to take on the day…one healthy sip at a time!!
