Cold-pressed juices! Our friends at locally-owned and operated Roots Juices use cold-pressed juicers to create shockingly fresh juices that would even impress those on the coasts. What exactly are cold-pressed juices, you say? The cold-press juicer is by no means a recent or new invention, but today’s version appears to be nearly identical to the original creation which was invented sometime in the 1940s. Well, instead of cutting fruit into small pieces, cold-press juicers (versus centrifugal juicers) chew or mash fruit to extract juice. Gears inside the machine compress fruits, vegetables and greens to squeeze out the juices. The upshot is that Roots Juices drinks not only contain more of the original juice from the fruits, but also a higher concentration of the nutrients found within them. According to, um, science (and the owners of Roots Juices), the heat generated by the use of centrifugal juice makers often reduces nutrient levels. Cold-pressed juicers overcome this problem by bypassing heated pressing, thus keeping your fruit juice fresh and healthy.
